Selunette is an imprint proposal for Macmillan publishers focused on graphic novels for young and new adults. For my first semester as an SMP intern, I was paired with five other interns from different departments to create a new imprint idea that we got to pitch to the CEO of Macmillan publishing. My team was incredible, and we worked wonderfully together. My job was creating the brand- and it was a blast.
Selunette comes from the words lunette (a type of window) and sel which comes from german, meaning soul. Window to the soul. We felt like this was a wonderful representation of what a graphic novel can be. The imagery of a stained glass window is important because stained glass art was one of the original ways to tell stories through imagery. The colors represent intelligence, and serenity through the blue, as well as creativity and excitement with the orange.
