I chose this title as it refers to a feeling of homesickness for a place that is not your home. The goal of this project was to create a set of playing cards that celebrate four cities that have had a big impact on me. Paris, France for hearts, Edinburgh, Scotland for clubs, Stockholm, Sweden, for diamonds, and Salzburg, Austria for spades.
Every shape, pattern, and motif was inspired by visuals in the cities. I looked at skylines, wallpaper, books, mosaics, and much more. For the face cards, each represents some aspect of the cities. The queens picture the national flower, the King is inspired by the most important cathedral, and the jack symbolizes some important part of the culture.
